R.I.S.E


Last year our ‘motto’ was ‘L.I.F.E’ - how our Lives Impact the Future of the Earth. 
This year we continue to build on this mantra with our new ‘motto’ of ‘R.I.S.E ’ Our learning this term will be shaped around the following curriculum focuses:-
Big Picture - Growing the Seed  - Knowing ourselves. Who are we? What makes us unique and special. 

  • Turangawaewae - Belonging
  • Habits of Mind - Thinking about thinking.
  • Key Competencies - Using language, texts and symbols and Managing Self.
  • Thinking Tools - Circle and bubble maps. Thinking about our Thinking Processes. What do we need to clarify our thoughts and ideas.
  • Writing - Writing open and closed questions. Personal descriptions, news reports, diary, historical and imaginative writing.
  • Reading - Guided group reading based on  reading levels. Focus - oral and written comprehension. Individual research based on an Artist and Art History.
  • Maths - Numeracy - understanding numbers to 50, 100, 1000’s and  Algebra. Basic Facts and Times Tables
  • Integrated Inquiry Topic - Art appreciation and drawing and painting techniques.
